About Rick Love

Rick began his journey with CANTERRA SEEDS in January 2011 as our Pedigreed Seed Business Manager. His primary responsibility is to acquire new and improved varieties of field crops. Rick collaborates with qualified seed growers to create business plans that introduce these new varieties, benefiting their seed businesses and better serving our farmer customers.

Growing up in Melfort, SK, Rick developed a passion for agriculture and seed science. Rick’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) from the University of Saskatchewan. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in various aspects of the seed industry across western Canada. His roles have encompassed grain and seed contracting, purchasing, processing, logistics, and sales.

Notably, Rick has contributed to the commercialization of over 150 improved varieties of cereals, oilseeds, pulses, forages, and special crops throughout his distinguished career. His commitment to advancing seed quality and agricultural innovation remains unwavering. Rick’s expertise extends to his involvement in industry committees, including the Prairie Recommending Committee for Wheat, Rye, and Triticale (PRCWRT), the Canadian Seed Growers Association Regulatory Services Committee, the Saskatchewan Advisory Committee for Grain Crops (SACGC), and the Alberta Regional Variety Advisory Committee (ARVAC).
